Xmas decorations at school

Singing Xmas songs together
During the many days of work on the Xmas decorations for the Xmas tree we do at the same time other activities to celebrate Xmas!!!!

While the team is working on the project decorations some students read them stories about Xmas traditions

Our visits to the Retirement Home Fundação José Relvas
Every Wednesdays we go to the Retirement Home and it is great fun enjoying the way and playing with each other during all the way. This is a great time to improve the relationship of all the group.

Starting the project
We start the project with the introduction of the students, teachers and senior citizens. We have tea together and we get to know each other!!!

Xmas generations
...because Xmas is worth to be celebrate!
The European Club José Relvas, of the José Relvas Schools Cluster, Alpiarça - Portugal, had the idea to develop a project together with a Retirement Home, Fundação José Relvas, in our town and also the local Town Hall, Câmara Municipal de Alpiarça.

We thought about the twelve stars of the European flag, so we agree that we should do twelve Xmas trees that will be decorated with creative Xmas decorations done by students and senior citizens from the retirement home.
We think that this type of collaborative work is really useful, putting two different generations together that will share so many things and enjoy themselves doing things that will be seen by all the community in the final exhibition in the local Town Hall.
It was easy to agree the project with our partners and we start...
From school to the Retirement Home we have a nice walk with nice view of the countryside.

Xmas Generations aims
The main aims of Xmas Generations project are:
- To develop critical thinking about Xmas,
- To communicate with the others (school, local community and with European peers)
- To develop creativity by doing project works,
- To develop citizenship by working together with local partners and European partners,
- To respect the others,
- To celebrate Xmas.

Summary of the project
To celebrate a special time of the year with other people, young kids or senior people, or even with another class in your school, a special group in your community. It is up to you!
You have to develop Xmas activities according to the group you are going to work with. You must be creative! After promoting the activities (can be cooking a special Xmas cake, Xmas decorations, Xmas songs, Xmas cards, Xmas...).
You have to be "Xmas" creative and for sure you and our students will find something interesting and enjoyable to do.
We will share the results and we are going to write a Xmas message together, we can also do a wall of wishes for this Xmas and a final exhibiton of our project works.
We want to involve the school and the local community and write something that will make our students think about the real mean of Xmas!
